Twilight Dwellers

For you,

For me,

And everyone else

Who basks in the twilight.

You grew up too fast;

Too fast for the speed of light,

Too fast for normality to grasp,

Too fast for reality to cope,

Too fast until death itself

Became fearful for you.

You went on an adventure to find the light,

As an eclipse to the dark in your heart.

From the sun, the moon, and the stars,

You continued to look,

But the light chose to blind you from its sights,

While the darkness banished you from its premises,

And all you are left with,

Is this endless stream of twilight.

Forsaken by both the dark and the light,

You were forced to bask in the twilight,

Accompanied by the shadows of your past,

And the ghosts of insanity,

Who subtly lurk behind the curtains of uncertainty,

Waiting to pounce,

At every tranquil moment,

Your turbulent thoughts allow you to have.

And yet, within the depths of your thoughts,

Behind every tear that has ever dropped,

Lies a glimmer of light,

As small as a single firefly,

Crystalised in the form of ambiguity,

Yearning to be released -

To be the shooting star

That pierces the dark in your heart.

I see it in your eyes,

I see it in your smile,

The firefly flickering amidst the conflict,

Eager to connect with others of its kind,

Who were separated from the rest,

Due to the twilight we have become.
