The Reality of Freelancing

A freedom everyone longs for yet clueless about People think freelancers have it all: the abundance of free time, an active social life and a steady income to go with it. What a cool lifestyle to live by… almost like the perceptions placed on rock stars in the music industry – carefree, liberating and elusive. Sadly, just like the shaky, unpredictable and tempestuous life of a rock star, that is merely the surface of a freelancer’s reality. Simply put, a misconception of a perception in itself.

   Surviving through a money-driven world “Money, get away, get a good job with more pay and your O.K.” Pink Floyd sang that through their hit song “Money”. They couldn't have sang a better song about money and how it’s the driving force in life. Without it, one could not eat or drink, nor can one gain shelter or even have a bed to sleep on. The expenses required for us to live has been rising and rising, thus making money a necessity for us to live.

Run To The Hills Screenplay SCENE 1 3 boys stand at the foot of a hill. ALI 3,2,1, Hidup Selamba! Ali gets a head start MUTU Weh! All 3 of them run towards the hill. Even though Ali had a head start, Mutu and Ah Chong manages o catch up with him. ALI Weh! Harimau doh! To the shock of Mutu and Ah Chong, they halted for a second. AH CHONG & MUTU Huh? Where? Ali laughed and continued running AH CHONG Cibai Ali stumbles but got back to his feet almost instantaneously. However, Ah Chong and Mutu manages to catch up with him. MUTU Hah! Main tipu lagi! The three of them laugh as they continue their run up the hill. Suddenly Ali stops and looked around. ALI Eh, Ah Chong, AH CHONG Hah? What? ALI Where’s Mutu weh. Mutu was nowhere in sight and suddenly they heard a soft scream coming from a distance. AH CHONG Uh-oh They sprinted down towards the sound as fast as they could. By the time they reach, they saw Mutu lying down, holding his leg in agony. ALI & AH CHO

Judgement Of Men

Screenplay SCENE 1: SIDEWALK AND OFFICE WIDE: Cars are zooming by, as the hobo sits down, wearing worn and torn clothes, with his messy hair covering his face. EXTREME CLOSE UP: A girl’s feet, walking. CLOSE UP: The hobo adjusts his sitting position AMY (V/O) I didn’t mean to be so mean, I was merely speaking out of term, I thought I knew who you were, I didn’t understand your state of mind, That man and man are not the same. MEDIUM(BACK): Amy is walking in an office building. EXTREME CLOSE UP: Amy is holding a newspaper, reading a poem titled: "The Judgement of Men." CLOSE UP: The hobo is taking something out of his back pocket. CLOSE UP: Amy looking at the magazine as she walks. MEDIUM: The hobo gets up, with garbage piled up, in an alleyway, and starts walking amongst people.
