The Chains of Reality

The Chains Of Reality

We can go astray,
Drop our weights and float away,
Lose ourselves to joy and play,
But reality has its chains,
Oh life is strange, how life is strange.

You bring me around the globe,
Showing me of roles to play,
The disparities of normality,
And you tell me I have free will,
But not this way, oh not that way.

What are these philosophies?
Psychoanalysis and doublespeak,
Complexities and rationales,
Questioning the dreams of innocence;
Oh cynic thoughts, what cynic thoughts.

You gave me a friend that stays,
You made me laugh, and smile, and gleam,
You made me dream of beauty’s flair,
A detachment from reality,
Only for death to claim, oh death she claimed.

We could’ve run away,
Crossed our hearts with joy and play,
Ruled the world just you and me,
But reality has its chains,
Oh life is strange, how life is strange.
