Your Utopia, My Dystopia

Your Utopia, My Dystopia

The innocence is strong in me
The world is blue,
Clear as day
Cheap and cheerful is my stance –
My salutation!
Like a warrior, I stand by it,
Parrying the evil,
Shielding the darkness it brings.

But I stumbled down,
I stumbled upon a road
And the road speaks of history
Uncensored imagery flash
Before my bright eyes
All there is, all there ever was –
A conflict
Of darkness and light.
I felt alone,
I felt so cold –
I never felt so small.

I turn into a cynic,
The human race becomes intolerable,
Saturated by euphoria,
Intoxicated by the powers that be;
Fighting for their glories,
Forming their own legacies.
I lost all of my love,
I lost all of my hate –
I’ve never felt so numb.

The trouble with love,
the trouble with hate –
It makes you certain;
Certain of fantasy,
Certain of your utmost reality,
It buries your thoughts,
Builds up the blocks –
To create your utopia.
And they all follow you whole,
Follow you down your hole,
But your utopia is my dystopia!

I was afraid to turn,
I was afraid to be of the hive,
So I picked up an art –
The art of jagged mischief!
I covered my thoughts,
I curled up my soul –
In a cynical blanket!
An army of you,
Versus an army of me...
You labelled me a misfit;
You painted me as the black king!

The cynic is strong in me,
The world I thought blue,
Now grey.
Deep and meaningful now my stance –
My salvation!
Like a warrior I stand by it,
Parrying the bliss,
Shielding the ignorance it brings.
