Rise, Fall, Journey On

They shower you with praise,
Tell you you're different,
Tell you you're special,
Tell you you're better than the rest.
You let it get to your head,
Let your ego crawl out,
Deep from the caverns of your mind.

 You float up into the sky,
Free, without wings,
You’ve never felt so high!
You look down from above,
You spit in their faces,
You think no one is better
Than you.

 You shower yourself with praise,
You think you’re different,
You think you’re special,
You think you’re better than the rest.
You let your ego consume you,
Be the master of your thoughts,
Becoming a person you never thought to be.

You fall back to the ground,
Forgetting about gravity,
You’ve never fell so hard!
You look up from below,
They spit in your face now,
They think you're better
Than no one.

They shower you with criticism,
Tell you you aren’t different,
Tell you you aren’t special,
Tell you you aren’t better than the rest.
You swallow your pride,
Rip your ego apart,
But the damage has been done.

 You're crashing, you're burning,
Straight in the darkness,
Watching the ashes fall!
Deep in the darkness,
You plummet to its summit,
The light only a glimpse you can see,
But it shines on, with a hope for you.

You shower yourself with criticism,
You know you’re not different,
You know you’re not special,
You know you’re not better than the rest.
You take back control of your thoughts,
And continue on your journey,
To be the person you wanted to be.
