The Digital Conundrum

I wanted to meet

But you told me, “No,

The digital space isn’t safe;

There’s no way to tell,

Who is who, what is what,

Only more why’s to trace.”

You wanted to text,

To break the layers in between,

Before we meet.

I duly complied,

And fully enjoyed,

The stories we submit.

Days go by,

And I start to feel a spark,

With hopes of you feeling the same.

But there’s no way to truly know,

Through this emotionless screen,

Cluttered with emojis and text we claim.

I wanted to leave

This digital space

To walk with you in the realms of reality.

You wanted to stay,

To continue to text,

In the comforts you’ve narrated.

I wanted to leave,

To meet in the tangible world,

To see you smile with authenticity.

You wanted to stay,

So afraid to stray,

From the digital space you’ve sedated.

I wanted to seek

The warmth of love

In the arms of your architecture.

You wanted to hide

From the changing tides

In the comforts of your own conjecture.
