Cynical Blanket
Cynical Blanket
Written by Putera Muhamad Ashraf
Poison clouds, they float around my head,
Masquerading as a cure for despair,
Insomnia creeps in to my crestfallen ways,
For only in a dream can I foresee,
Insomnia creeps in to my crestfallen ways,
For only in a dream can I foresee,
The angels and demons calling for a truce.
Soldiers are marching all around my town,
No chance at grasping the spinning wheel,
Preserving their bliss in the starry nights,
On the edge of change, they bear in arms,
Shooting for the peace the world screams for.
I die every single night,
And awake with ethereal whispers from my dreams.
Monkeys are dancing up and down my back,
Growing grapevines wherever I lay my eyes,
Further forcing demons onto my reins,
On the edge of time, they drain my naive veins,
Eager to see me locked in my own chains.
The angels called, said they have a gift for me,
Gashing truths deep inside my skull,
With the hounds of hell here as my pets,
With the hounds of hell here as my pets,
The strings of democracy will rise above the noise,
Awakening the celestial stellar long lost in the void.
Waiting for my thoughts to be heard aloud.
All alone a million miles from home,
Prancing people surround me with brittle claims,
I see their souls from the corner of their eyes,
I predict the nature of their lives,
Sometimes I wish I was more wrong than right.
Dressed in blue and sullen flames,
Lost in a cloak of a thousand lonely lights,
All I need is a solemn kiss to call my own,
Then I'd have me a convenient kind of pain,
Bringing more meaning to my wings.
With the blanket that binds my cynical mind.
